No Fewer Than 98 Palestinian Individuals Have Perished in Custody Starting From October 2023, Statistics from Israel Shows

Per data released by Israel, at least 98 Palestinian individuals have perished while detained beginning in October 2023. A human rights group based in Israel has indicated that the true figure is almost certainly significantly higher, because of hundreds of missing people from Gaza.

Notable Incidents

Several casualties in detention have been high profile, including a middle-aged healthcare leader who lost his life in confinement after 120 days in custody.

An inmate incarcerated with the deceased reported that he was taken to the yard by correctional officers just prior to his death, clearly wounded and naked from the lower body. His body has not been repatriated to Gaza.

Further inmates who died in confinement by Israeli authorities stay unnamed. Detention administrators and defense forces gave analysts with the number of deaths in custody, and minimal further data for example the site where they perished, but without the inmates’ personal details.

Documentation Problems
