19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
